In 2022, the continuous escalation of the Russia-Ukraine war, chip production may be further intensified.  

Ukraine supplies nearly 70 percent of the world's neon, an inert gas that is an important raw material for semiconductor chips.  

In addition, Russia controls 40% of the world's palladium and 9% of nickel production. Neon prices of palladium, a key raw material for chips, have been on a rising trend since October 2021, and since the russia-Ukraine conflict, prices have risen again by around 20% to 30%.
